SANTA BARBARA, Calif. —  Lots of men and women took part in a protest at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse from the Santa Barbara Unified College District’s conclusion to adopt Teenager Speak. 

“We are heading to sound the alarm for our city,” protest organizer Barbara Batastini reported. “We’re going to let men and women know that this is not appropriate.”

The sexual intercourse schooling curriculum will soon be taught to 7th and 8th graders in the district. 

Janeth Mendoza just began homeschooling all 4 of her little ones due to the fact these new school subjects go against her ethical compass. 

“This university board is not undertaking its job informing moms and dads of which curriculums they select to teach the young children,” Mendoza stated.

On September 8, Santa Barbara Unified unanimously adopted the controversial curriculum.

Even so, some parents strongly believe it need to have no location at community colleges.

“It will not resonate with our society,” Mendoza stated. “With our values.” 

“Our youngsters are becoming poisoned with the sexual schooling that they’re going to be acquiring,” an additional protestor Linda Foster mentioned.

In reaction, the college board mentioned that protesters are inciting panic and anger with a misinformation campaign that preys on people’s religion.

“They will not like the simple fact that it can be the legislation that we train that abstinence is not the only way to prevent being pregnant,” SBUSD board member Kate Ford claimed.

“It’s crucial we have interaction with mother and father as associates to be certain we are addressing the needs of the full baby with medically correct, requirements-based wellbeing education for pupils,” SBUSD superintendent Hilda Maldonado mentioned. 

The district even created an online “Details vs Fiction” webpage to make sure that family members have correct facts about the new curriculum.

“Moms and dads can opt out of this and we’ve designed that really apparent from the start off,” Ford explained.

For Mendoza, this however isn’t plenty of when it comes to her daughter.

“She will however be exposed to the factors that I you should not want her to know nevertheless,” Mendoza concluded.

Some speakers urged the group of protesters to pull their little ones out of the district to bring about a possible reversal of the district selection.
